ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHIC SERIES

The ongoing series we could always hear the river shows landscapes of the Thaya valley, which flows through a region of Lower Austria called Waldviertel, ‘the forest district’ in German. For more than two decades I have often stayed there in a family-owned old mill on the riverbanks. This isolated spot in the valley resonates with the echoes of the waterfall caused by the weir needed to operate the mill. Hence the title of the series.

À PROPOS DE LA SÉRIE DE PHOTOGRAPHIES

La série we could always hear the river, commencée en 2022 et toujours en cours, montre des paysages de la vallée de la Thaya qui coule dans une région de basse Autriche appelée Waldviertel, « le district des forêts » en Allemand. Depuis plus de vingt ans j’y séjourne souvent dans une propriété familiale, un ancien moulin du XVIIIème siècle au bord de la rivière. Cet endroit isolé de la vallée résonne des échos de la chute d’eau provoquée par le seuil nécessaire au fonctionnement du moulin. D’où le titre de la série.
